WOW ! I've heard that before ....
But... does he support Statehood for Puerto Rico?
Like Bush? Like Reagan? Like George W?

I am proud to announce my Puerto Rico Campaign Committee,” said Mitt Romney. “Around the world, the United States has helped plant the seeds of democracy. Meanwhile, close to four million American citizens in Puerto Rico do not enjoy the same rights and privileges of democracy as their other fellow citizens. In Washington today, a lack of leadership in the White House is paralyzing significant progress on too many issues. As president, I will provide the leadership and resources necessary to ensure that this century-old question is resolved. As I’ve said in the past, by working with Congress, we can grant Puerto Ricans the opportunity to determine their future political status. Only in this way can we close the book on Puerto Rico’s political limbo and one of the great unresolved questions of American democracy.”

Announcing her support, Republican National Committeewoman Zoraida Fonalledas said, “Puerto Rican voters are looking for the candidate who is ready to turn around our struggling economy – as a businessman and governor, Mitt Romney was able to do just that. Of all the candidates, he has the most experience working in the real economy. That experience will be needed in our next president to grow the economy and create jobs.”

  2. Mr. Romney, you want our votes? Start pro-actively publicly speaking about the statehood for Puerto Rico. Would you speak publicly in favor of it from Alaska to West Virginia? Let's see how pro statehood are you? Would you choose a Puertorican running mate?

  3. Puerto Rico's Plebiscite—a quest to end inequality!
The US Territory of Puerto Rico (PR) will conduct a local Status Plebiscite during the elections in Nov. 2012 to try to end inequality. This rightful quest is a step in the right direction, but, constitutional options must be better defined; and all born in PR, no matter their residency, are affected; should be permitted to vote-- since, they don't have a permanent US Citizenship (per Presidential Reports).

First, people will vote on whether PR should stay or not a US Territory. If “no” is selected, then they can select a non-territorial status (Statehood, Independence or ELA Soberano--Free Associated State)... But, the local plebiscite has no force for change because PR falls under the will of Congress, per the un-democratic US Territorial Clause...

Remember, the complex PR Status dilemma (affecting about 9 million US Citizens) has been going on for 114+ years (since 1898). It is not only about a “Group” vote on the status question, but, Congress (in 1917) made it, also, an individual rights issue when it imposed a non-permanent statutory 2d Class US Citizenship that doesn't permit US Citizens born/ residing in US PR (including American Veterans) to vote in Federal elections nor have just representation...while being loyal US Citizens.

Thus, it is the solemn duty of the Federal Government/ Congress to promptly act when the essence of our representative democracy (“consent of the governed”) is at stake...; ensure an equal US Citizenship for all by sanctioning a PR “Liberty Plebiscite” with defined US Constitutional options (that takes into consideration--the two forms of government under the US Constitution: State or Territory).

Full Individual/Civil Rights are more important than un-democratic territorial control of the land! American Patriots must rise to fight the “tyranny of a majority”; protect an equal US Citizenship no matter where you reside under the US Flag; advance American democracy-- break PR's Territorial shackles...!

Note: Define Options: Statehood (State Sovereignty/ US Citizenship...); Independence (Total Sovereignty/ PR Citizenship...) or a form of independence: Free Association/“ELA Soberano”--Free Associated State (Sovereignty with Pact; PR Citizenship) (A Nation can't be truly sovereign under the Constitution or Citizenship of another Nation); US Territory (possession) (Means: No Sovereignty/ Un-equal/non-permanent US Citizenship--Congress will make all the rules and regulations of the Territory or Property belonging to the US; can discriminate in applying laws, benefits, and some rights)...

Work for the good of all: Family, Community, USA, and Humanity!
