Making a new push Tuesday to highlight instances where stimulus dollars helped companies create jobs overseas, Republicans are looking to flip the script on President Obama's frequent charges that Mitt Romney supported the outsourcing of American jobs.

At an event in Iowa on Tuesday, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus will debut a new website — ObamanomicsOutsourced.com — that features companies that received stimulus dollars and opened factories in foreign countries. Among the examples: a solar panel factory in Mexico, windmills in Denmark and a battery manufacturer in South Korea.

The event and online project represent a tacit admission that the president has been gaining traction by linking Romney's tenure at Bain Capital to companies that focused on helping other corporations outsource jobs. While the Romney campaign has vehemently denied that companies Romney invested in moved American jobs overseas, the president and his top surrogates have repeatedly suggested as much in campaign speeches and advertisements.

C'mon Priebus! I am a Republican, but I am getting very disappointed with the GOP! The GOP should look deeper into this issue. All are guilty of pushing jobs overseas! and it is hurting Puerto Ricans as well as your constituents.

Puerto Rico, a US Territory for over 100 years with Natural Born US Citizens is used as an offshore tax haven for Corporations without having benefited our economy or our unemployment rate. (About 17%) .

There are Republicans and Democrats in Congress right now pushing to give them more benefits for taking their jobs to foreign countries. Do your homework! With the help of both Republicans and Democrats in the US Congress, these Corporation supporters and lobbyists have been able to code Puerto Rico as a Foreign Country in the IRS, so they can have generous tax breaks.

I was appalled when I learned that when they say Controlled Foreign Corporations (CFC), Puerto Rico is the foreign country!! I have raised that issue during my multiple visits to Congressional offices, but it seems "no one is very interested". since many are their campaign contributors.

This is why 5 million Puerto Ricans have left the island and prefer to live in a state of the Union while 3 million remain in PR. Worse yet, we are included and treated by many as immigrants! Is that what a US citizen is called when he moves to another state? They also lobby and pay people to speak out against Statehood for Puerto Rico since this is against their best interest. This violates our right to self determination.

When you go to the IOWA GOP, ask them why out of the clear blue sky they added a racist, unnecessary line to their platform speaking out against Puerto Rico and statehood for Puerto Rico. Ask them who convinced them to add that!

Miriam Ramirez MD
-Former PR State Senator
-Fomer Vice President of the Statehood Party of Puerto Rico
-Former GOP National Committee-Woman from PR
-Grassroots leader who delivered 350,000 individually signed petitions to Congress which resulted in the Introduction by Congressman Don Young of a Bill for Self Determination for Puerto Rico which passed the House and was killed in the Senate by you know who.

-and... a 71 year old grandmother!

  1. Dra.
