Sandy Hook school shooting: Victims’ names released

NEWTOWN, Conn. — On the list of the victims from Friday’s elementary-school massacre in this small New England town, one number stands out: 6.
Charlotte Bacon, 6. Olivia Engel, 6. Dylan Hockley, 6..........And on and on. Sixteen altogether, along with four 7-year-olds. Seven adults between the ages of 27 and 56 also were also killed, including the school’s principal and the alleged shooter’s mother.
They all died violent deaths at the hands of a gunman, identified as 20-year-old Adam Lanza, who authorities said carried out Friday’s massacre at an elementary school and did much of the killing with a semi-automatic rifle to shoot his victims at close range.
Connecticut chief medical examiner H Wayne Carver II said that the victims each suffered three to 11 gunshot wounds and appeared to have died quickly. “All of wounds that I know of were caused by the long weapon,” he said, referring to the semi-automatic Bushmaster rifle found at the scene.
